The Able Trust is excited to celebrate the 30th anniversary of High School High Tech (HSHT), our premier program for introducing students with disabilities to postsecondary education and career opportunities.
Originally adopted by the President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities (PCEPD) in 1986, Florida has been a model state and increased student enrollment in High School High Tech from six when The Able Trust first invested in the program to more than 1,200 students during the last school year.
As we celebrate this important milestone, we are excited to announce the goal to reach 5,000 students over the next four years.
“High School High Tech has been a life changing program for thousands of students with disabilities around Florida,” said The Able Trust President and CEO Allison Chase. “As we celebrate this important milestone, we’re excited about our vision for the future and expanding HSHT to reach more students with disabilities across Florida.”
Based on the nationally recognized framework Guideposts for Success, The Able Trust works with partners across Florida to provide a program that helps students with disabilities graduate high school and learn how to plan for their future.
“The graduation rate for High School High Tech students is 99%, a testament to the efforts of our HSHT Coordinators,” stated The Able Trust High School High Tech State Director Coleen Agner. “In addition to providing students with important resources, High School High Tech has a positive impact on participating students, giving them a sense of belonging, increasing their overall self-esteem and building confidence.”
